Deqing is a rural community outside the city of Hangzhou, China. Here, pristine wetlands meet picturesque fishing villages and modern agriculture. Current plans envisage the development of a touristic network to further stimulate the local economy and tackle rural depopulation.
Our client is a local dairy producer who is opening up parts of his premises for visitors. The whole project has a high ecological standard and focuses on a sustainable development. Beside the farm, people can explore the traditional village and the highly biodiverse landscape.
The exhibition pavilion is located right within the wetlands and will inform the visitors about the history and the ecosystem of the wetland.
The pavilion is designed as a ring-formed structure which is set gently on the landscape. It is constructed from a lightweight steel truss which spans the water expanse. Elevated gangways across the wetland form a walkabout and grant access to the pavilion.
The pavilion’s program consists of reception zones, an exhibition area and a snack bar. The panoramic windows allow different views and insights of the wetland.
